The A.S. Black Women's Health Collaborative's directive is to aid the currently inadequate support of Black women and our ability to exist and live well and centralize leadership efforts for the betterment of Black women's holistic spiritual, mental, and physical health. The A.S. Black Women's Health Collaborative shall serve as an educational advocacy forum for Black women, women-Aligned, and Non-Binary community members.The purpose of Black Women's Health Collaborative is to ensure the fair, equal, and adequate distribution of financial resources for Black UCSB students, from a source that is both safe for us and accessible. We also hold that Black students' financial contributions to Associated Students. The A.S. Black Women's Health Collaborative shall act as an advocacy group aimed at improving the status of Black women's health globally, nationally, and locally both on campus and in the community.The A.S. Black Women's Health Collaborative will maintain a network of Black women for members of the campus community who would like to connect with national as well as international efforts for the advancement of Black women and people everywhere. The A.S. Black Women's Health Collaborative holds firmly with the doctrines of the Black Radical Imagination and Black Feminist Theory to establish the structure and values of our organization and its directives. The Black Women's Health Collaborative was envisioned by Zion Solomon and Suad Abdullahi.

The A.S. Commission for Marginalized Genders (also known as CMG) is an educator about and an advocate for women, non-binary, and trans* rights, with a commitment to representing and improving the status of women, non-binary, and trans* folks on campus and in the community. The A.S. Commission for Marginalized Genders is working toward becoming a diverse group of members reflecting the different voices of the campus and community.

The A.S. Commission for Marginalized Genders must constantly redefine itself if it is going to actively try to recognize how women's, non-binary, and trans* issues function within the intersections of race, class, age, sexual orientation, religion, culture, and physical and mental ability. Recognizing this means that we acknowledge that one group can never represent the voices of all women, non-binary, and trans* across these intersections. Therefore, we must look beyond the Commission for Marginalized Genders and into the campus and community. Lastly, as a Board and as a Commission, to carry on the events of the Annual Womxn Unite Banquet.

Mission
CFF is a student-run organization and part of Associated Students. We promote financial literacy awareness and educate students on various personal finance topics. Our mission is to provide valuable knowledge to prepare students to become financially literate during college and carry these skills for a lifetime of financial well-being.

The Community Financial Fund was established in the 2010-2011 academic year when students passed a measure allocating a new student fee of $2.10 per student per quarter to initiate the program. In the fall of 2011, CFF began its work by supplementing the AS Emergency Loans Program. By its second operating year, CFF inaugurated a well-liked grant program which to this day, provides additional financial assistance to the student populous. CFF also established financial literacy workshops with the grant which has been instrumental in equipping students with efficient money management tools and overall valuable financial knowledge. The Financial Aid Department and the AS Food Bank are co-partners of CFF that collaborate for the outreach of students living with food or housing insecurity.

The A.S. Global Gaucho Commission is a body funded by the UCSB undergraduates concerned with providing a positive and comfortable learning environment for international students. Its purpose is to confront and proactively resolve issues of international student-related concerns and create and promote programs to educate the student body on the international student experience and help integrate international students into the UCSB student community. This Commission shall implement and support rules and regulations that will help provide a more safe atmosphere for international students on this campus, and network with other groups, campus departments, or other universities to better represent international students at UCSB or other educational institutions. The Commission shall form sub-commissions as deemed necessary.

The Human Rights Board of Associated Students serves as a forum centered on
facilitating and amplifying the interaction of student groups-both within UCSB and our greater community. The Board recognizes their mission of inclusivity by creating forum that encourages, advocates and promotes respectful and honest communication regarding the education and awareness of basic human rights principles. This includes, but is not limited to age, class, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, nationality, religion, race, size, sex and sexuality. The main charge of the board is to promote open education and awareness through event forums and educational campaigns. The driving force behind this initiative is twofold: ignorance is the primary root of human rights abuses, and when collaborating together as opposed to separately we are capable of making a much stronger impact.

Mission
The Isla Vista Community Relations Committee connects UC Santa Barbara students with long-term residents of Isla Vista, and vice versa. We are also responsible for the education of campus and student communities regarding issues within Isla Vista and Santa Barbara County.

IVCRC accomplishes these missions by serving as a funding and planning source for projects that promote community relations. In other words, we give money to people and organizations so that they can do cool stuff with it, and we come up with our own events too—at least one per non-summer quarter. Projects we fund and plan must include non-student residents in Isla Vista, so events and programs cannot only be open to students.

Our relevant affairs include safety, police/community relations, landlord/tenant relations, emergency and vehicle access in Isla Vista, parking, and county/university funding for Isla Vista programs and services. IVCRC also collaborates with the Office of the External Vice President for Local Affairs (EVPLA).

The A.S. Media Center is a fully student-funded creative space available to UCSB undergraduate and graduate students. We are located in Building 434 – Room 141 (just across the bike path from Storke Tower and South Hall). Supported by the A.S. Creative Media Unit, the Media Center is equipped with the tools help you create a simple flyer or produce a documentary about something you're passionate about.

We provide gear for checkout (still and video cameras, audio equipment, tripods/stabilizers, and more), a Mac Studio computer lab, a meeting space, and a professional photo studio. Our computers come equipped with Adobe and other software to edit both visual and audio-based projects, and our photo studio has lights and backdrops you can reserve. We’ll help you with the setup and train you to do it yourself.

Our mission is to reduce waste at UCSB both through direct collection and through education and information sharing. We believe that true environmental progress requires direct, hands-on action and personal responsibility, not just ideals and slogans. We, along with our partner organization The Department of Public Worms, are deeply committed to the day-to-day recycling, compost, and electronic waste collection services that have helped make UCSB a state and national leader in waste reduction for nearly 20 years. At the same time, we recognize that teaching students and staff how to recycle, compost, and reduce waste can have a huge impact both on and off campus, and is the only way to achieve lasting change. We value our campus and community, and are committed to a goal of zero waste at UCSB!

OSA works to facilitate open and honest communication between students and the University by providing free and confidential peer support advice and assistance to any student, student organization, or student group involved in a dispute with the University or any other entity within the University community. In addition, the OSA promotes students’ rights as well as work to change and challenge policies of the University on behalf of the students of UCSB.

Our caseworkers work with students on an one-on-one basis to work through their cases and ensure that they are in the best position to represent themselves. Our Community Organizers work in a proactive manner to carry out projects and policy changes from trends they see on the casework level.

The Student Initiated Recruitment and Retention Committee is a collective effort of students catering to the needs of local and academic communities. The Committee will assist historically underrepresented, low-income, and under resourced students and organizations in establishing the fundamental interaction needed to create a long-term recruitment and retention program within our UCSB community. The Committee will be comprised of members and organizations of all ethnic groups, providing a culturally diverse environment while working towards increasing diversity at our campus. It will provide a unified space for all organizations to maintain and create recruitment and retention programs, as well as offer resources to facilitate interaction amongst students, faculty, and administration. Furthermore, the Committee will provide multilateral support, stemming from various associations to promote student leadership, empowerment and coalition building. By developing common goals, securing resources and garnering long term support from the various campus organizations. The Student Initiated Recruitment and Retention Committee will foster guidance and support for underrepresented communities in the pursuit of higher education.

The A.S. Trans & Queer Commission shall serve as an educational and advocacy forum
for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and Asexual
(LGBTQIA) students' rights, with a commitment to representing and improving the
status of LGBTQIA students on campus and in the community. The A.S. Trans & Queer
Commission is a diverse group of members that provides education, funding, and
advocacy for the queer community at UCSB and also the Tri-County areas. The
Commission will also work together with other┬á campus and community groups to
overcome problems such as homophobia, heterosexism, transphobia, biphobia, hate
incidents/crimes and other forms of oppression.

Mission
To promote the social, academic and future career success of Transfer Students at UCSB. The Transfer Student Alliance will accomplish this goal by amplifying the need for transfer resources and promoting community events, participating in state and national conferences to better understanding of transfer student needs, and keep in constant communication with California Community Colleges.. The Transfer Student Alliance will help to facilitate and implement a smooth transition for transfer students and giving visibility to the Transfer Student community, promoting inclusivity, and providing a platform for transfer student innovation and success. The reach of the Transfer Student Alliance shall go beyond the UCSB campus and should try to work with other campuses Transfer Alliances and/or Transfer Student Resources.

Mission
Per the 2019-2020 AS Legal Code: "To aid UCSB in reaching its goal of Zero Waste by 2020 through a variety of measures that both directly and indirectly involve the UCSB campus and its surrounding community. To implement projects on campus aimed at promoting on-campus recycling and composting efforts as a means of maximizing the University's waste reduction efforts. To educate the UCSB campus and the surrounding community about sustainable waste management practices. To promote the purchasing of compostable and recycled products on the UCSB campus and in the surrounding community. To promote reduction, reuse, recycling and composting of all materials used on the UCSB campus and the surrounding community. To work closely with other Environmental Groups throughout the community in efforts to reduce the overall ecological footprint humans have on their local ecosystems and on the UCSB campus and surrounding communities specifically. To promote a zero waste lifestyle through events and improve waste infrastructure through careful project planning. The Zero Waste Committee is responsible for working closely with Associated Students Recycling, and the Department of Public Worms."

Mission
The Associated Students (AS) of the University of California, Santa Barbara is a non-profit organization and a department of the UCSB campus, funded by undergraduate student fees. Through elected student positions and appointments we voice student concerns and express student opinion to the UCSB administration, UC system, our community, and state and local governments. We have dozens of boards, committees, and commissions that are organized and funded through AS to enrich student life and give students services and opportunities not offered by the administration. Our mission is to help students uphold the high academic standards and give them leadership, employment, cultural and growth opportunities to serve the campus community.

Associated Students (AS)

Mission
A non-commercial, educational FM station broadcasting for the public interest, KCSB enters into no commercial contracts which allow access to the airwaves and it strives to provide programming substantially different from that carried by commercial broadcast media. It is also designed to be educational for both programmers and listeners. UCSB students and other programmers are provided an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of radio broadcasting, both technically and in terms of broadcast content, and to explore more advanced aspects of broadcasting and the audio medium.

KCSB insures that these opportunities are offered to a diverse community, especially people who are traditionally underrepresented in broadcasting.

For its listeners, KCSB provides programming that is stimulating, informative and generally unavailable from other local media. KCSB's news and public affairs programming places an emphasis on providing a forum for unpopular, controversial and/or neglected perspectives on important local, national and international issues. Its cultural arts and music programming covers a wide spectrum of expression from traditional to experimental which reflects the diverse community which KCSB serves.

KCSB and its programmers strive for programming excellence, both in content and technique. As a member of the University of California Radio Network, KCSB supports other member stations of the network and works to share expertise and programming with those stations.

The Bottom Line (TBL) is a student-run, student-funded newspaper at the University of California, Santa Barbara. TBL provides an independent printed and online space for journalism that engages UCSB and the community.
