The UCSB Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry provides exciting research at the cutting edge of modern chemical and biochemical science. Our faculty is exceptionally distinguished, including two Nobel laureates, and publications from our department were the 7th most cited in the nation among all chemistry departments, as reported by Chemical and Engineering News.

Our program fosters interdisciplinary collaborations both on campus and with scientists nationally and internationally. Affiliated research units on campus include the Materials Research Laboratory, the California Nanosystems Institute, the Institute for Terahertz Science and Technology, the Neuroscience Research Institute, the Marine Science Institute, the Center for BioEngineering, and the Mitsubishi Chemical - Center for Advanced Materials.

We’re a campus ministry on the UC Santa Barbara campus that believes that college is the perfect time to explore the big questions like, “Does God exist?” and “What am I here for?”

At A2F, we meet weekly on campus to study the Bible, as well as throughout the week for small groups and other activities. It’s a safe place to make some friends, think about the big questions of life, and get some answers as we investigate and discover God’s purpose for us.

At Acts2Fellowship, we try to recreate what we read in Acts chapter 2 of the Bible — ordinary folks forming an extraordinary community — and we invite you to join us!

Department of Special Research Collections (SRC) in the UCSB Library) with consideration of the group’s founding scope statement:

“The UC Santa Barbara Library has agreed to preserve and make accessible historical materials related to the tragedy of May 23, 2014 in the Department of Special Collections. To accomplish this goal, two library representatives are working with the Ad-Hoc Memorial Preservation Group to identify, acquire, preserve, and describe materials related to the incident. The group has been actively collecting two types of materials in both digital and physical formats: 1) a representative sample of condolence items and 2) records documenting the University’s response to the event. The first meeting of the Ad-Hoc Group was held on June 13, 2014. Since that date the membership has expanded so that the group has representatives of campus administration, the Library, the faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, and UCSB Alumni.”

While the collection is now processed and subject to the collection practices of the Department of Special Research Collections, this group may be involved in activities to further engage faculty, staff, and community members in continuing memorialization and in educational engagement activities related to the tragedy and the memorial collection.

UCSB Adventure Programs exists to enhance campus and community life by providing educational and recreational experiences through wilderness trips, outdoor recreation classes, ropes courses, and climbing center programs. Our philosophy is to hire people who are responsible, enthusiastic, hardworking, and willing to learn. More important than technical experience in the activities we do, we want people who are “heads up” in terms of risk management, awareness, customer service and interested in professional development. Many of the skills necessary for employment can be learned on the job or during the Leadership Training Course.

The long-term goal of Adventures in Caring is to produce the materials, methods, and programs that ensure the practice of compassion for the sick will be reliably passed on to future generations of professional and volunteer caregivers—at a standard that demonstrably benefits the healing process—so that the mental, emotional and spiritual distress encountered by those who suffer from illness or trauma is alleviated to the point that their state-of-mind becomes an asset to the healing of their body.

The Aerospace and Aviation Club is intended to set a reliable platform for anyone who has a passion for aerospace and aviation at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Members are welcome to communicate in such an enjoyable and professional atmosphere. The African diasporic Cultural Resource Center (AdCRC) educates, promotes, and encourages the interaction and dialogue among the diverse ethnic groups within the African diasporic communities of UCSB and to promote cross cultural learning and interaction amongst all ethnic groups. The AdCRC is an environment for students, staff, faculty and community members to develop an understanding of and appreciation for their African diasporic cultural identities. AdCRC staff strives to create and maintain a welcoming atmosphere for all to acquire knowledge in relation to the diversity of cultures within the African diaspora.

The AdCRC strives to assist in the holistic development of students of the African diaspora by focusing on several areas: academic excellence, cultural awareness, leadership development, social involvement, and proactive civic engagement. As a result of successfully developing our students in each of the aforementioned areas, the AdCRC, in turn, aids in the overall retention and graduation rates of our Black students at UCSB.

PREAMBLE
We, the sisters of Alpha Phi, in Convention Assembled, accept the Constitution and Bylaws in honor of ten young women who, with high purpose and glad hearts, entered into the bonds of fraternal association that together they might better seek to develop the highest type of womanhood.

Article I
NAME
The name of this Fraternity shall be Alpha Phi International Fraternity, Incorporated.
Article II
OBJECTS
The objects of our Fraternity are the promotion of growth in character, unity of feeling, sisterly affection and social communion among our members. In all that we do, we try to obey God’s principles of justice and right. We have banded ourselves together to improve our minds and hearts, and we seek to aid each other through a constant watchcare always given in love. We believe ourselves to be sincere searchers for truth.
We seek the highest ideal of womanhood, and we try to gain this ideal by cultivating not only the power and passion for seeking intellectual development, but also the spirit of love and charity. And we who are thus united are under a solemn pledge to lend a helping hand to one another.
Article III
PHILOSOPHY
An Alpha Phi shall conduct herself morally, intellectually and physically in a manner which bespeaks pride in self and respect for the goals and ideals of Alpha Phi International Fraternity (hereafter, “the Fraternity”). In pursuit of the highest ideal of womanhood, each Member (Article XIV, Section 1) shall be a positive influence as a Greek, campus and community leader.
The Fraternity has, since inception, encouraged each Member to strive for self-respect and self-knowledge in an effort to foster the personal development of each Member. The Fraternity supports the concept of equality and is committed to building a society where human judgments are based on merit, without regard to gender, race, religious preference, or disability. The Fraternity firmly repudiates actions and statements that negate the concepts of self-respect, personal development, equality and dignity.

Article IV
ORGANIZATION
Alpha Phi International Fraternity, Incorporated, founded in 1872 and originally incorporated as The Michaelanean Society in the city of Syracuse, Onondaga County in the state of New York on March 20, 1874, is a fraternal and benevolent corporation organized for purposes other than pecuniary profit. Our Membership is composed of undergraduate women affiliated with Collegiate Chapters (Article XII, Section 1) at accredited colleges and universities, and Alumnae Members (Article XIV, Section 1(B). Membership in the Fraternity is a lifelong association.
Article V
GOVERNMENT
The general government of this Fraternity shall be vested in the Convention. The International Executive Board shall serve as fiduciaries and shall be responsible for governance decisions, including but not limited to planning, evaluation, and policy setting. The Fraternity, its Members and Chapters, the Convention, and all Corporate Officers shall be governed by the Constitution and Bylaws of the Fraternity (Constitution and Bylaws). The International Executive Board (Article VIII) shall establish Policies & Procedures of the Fraternity (Policies & Procedures) consistent with this Article V.
Article VI
MEMBERSHIP
Membership in this Fraternity shall be open to qualified women and shall be attained only by election and initiation in accordance with the Constitution and Bylaws and the prescribed Ritual of the Fraternity (Article XVIII). Membership is traditionally rooted in the Collegiate Member experience and continues after college or university as an Alumna Member. Membership may also commence as an Alumna Initiate (one who is invited to membership outside the collegiate organization).
Article VII
ALPHA PHI FOUNDATION
The Alpha Phi Foundation, (hereafter “the Foundation”) shall be the Fraternity’s philanthropic partner. Members should support the Foundation annually at the level
they are able, by attending the Foundation’s philanthropic events and by making personal donations to same.
