Mission
The mission of this organization is to provide an opportunity for UCSB students to gain hands-on experience in the various facets of designing autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). By bridging curriculum concepts with real-world application, we aim to foster a collaborative, interdisciplinary community where students from all backgrounds can develop skills in both STEM and working with others. Furthermore, our work will directly serve the local Santa Barbara ecosystem through the use of AUVs to monitor the local conditions of the ocean and ecosystems surrounding our campus.

Membership Benefits
Members will build resume-defining experiences contributing to AUV, or autonomous underwater vehicle, design across software, electrical, mechanical, and business subteams. In addition to developing technical skills such as computer vision, circuit design, and underwater fabrication, team members benefit from mentoring, hands-on project experience, and the thrill of competing internationally at RoboSub. Becoming part of the team introduces members to a cohesive group of Gauchos who are dedicated to developing problem-solving skills, networking with industry-minded peers, and applying their skills to innovative robotics problems.

Mission
UCSB Bioethics Bowl pursues intellectual growth and social responsibility. We serve as a platform for students to critically examine and discuss the pressing bioethical issues of our time. As both a competitive team and an inclusive community, we strive to create a culture of informed dialogue and philosophical inquiry.

Membership Benefits
For those on the competition team:
Competing in Bioethics Bowl allows team members to hone their skills in both thoughtful philosophical reflection and thinking on their feet. It also encourages the development of public speaking and presentation skills, specifically with regards to articulating complicated philosophical arguments in plain language. Bioethics Bowl competitions are not about dominating the other side, but about having a conversation–and competing enables team members to have those conversations all over the country. Within the past year, we have traveled to Atlanta, Santa Cruz and Boston!

For those attending weekly discussions:
Joining our competition team is not required for participating in Bioethics Bowl. We host weekly socials in conjunction with UCSB Ethics Bowl where people can come together casually to talk about ethical issues and share their insights.
