Join us for a four-week art series that explores UCSB Reads book selection, Your Brain on Art. UCSB Reads is our campus “one-book” program in which the Library presents a different book each year that explores compelling issues of our time. This year UCSB Library is excited to announce the 2024 UCSB Reads book, Your Brain On Art: How the Arts Transform Us by Susan Magsamen and Ivy Ross. Magsamen and Ross argue that creative activities such as painting, dancing, playing music, or expressive writing are more essential to our daily lives than we realize, and can be used to ease distress, invigorate communities, improve learning and academic achievement, or bring joy to our lives. Each week we will have a unique experience that will guide your discovery of art in your daily life through canvas painting, bracelet making, creative writing, and candle making! This week we will explore art through candle making. Make sure to get your FREE copy from the library on Thursday, January 18 from 10am-12pm.
