Come to this event to learn about Isla Vista's community gardens and how each of these spaces is working to bring students and long term residents of Isla Vista together in the sharing of harvest. We will discuss some of what is ready for harvest at each of the gardens, offer some tastings of garden treats, highlight ways to engage with each garden, do a tour of the IV Community Center garden, and have a discussion about the opportunities and challenges in creating safe spaces and building community between the diverse communities in Isla Vista. This event is being co-hosted by the UCSB Resource Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity, the Edible Campus Program, and the Isla Vista Community Center Garden (a garden funded by the Isla Vista Community Services District).
