Advocacy and Collaboration Series

In the face of grief and rage, the question lingers: are we destined to remain stagnant, or can the transformative power of love propel us forward? The Advocacy & Collaboration Series invites you to join the much-anticipated kickoff event—“Building Bridges of Love: A Movement Against Cultures of Dominance.” Students, staff, faculty, and UC administration come together for an afternoon of introspection and community-building as we delve into the complexities of advocacy work and strive to recenter ourselves in the pursuit of justice. Inspired by bell hooks' profound philosophy outlined in "Love as the Practice of Freedom," we join to explore the intersections of love, liberation, and advocacy within our campus environment. This gathering is more than a meeting; it's a call to action, an invitation to dismantle cultures of domination that persist within our community.

Where do you belong in the movement against cultures of dominance? How do we align with values that propel us towards creating liberation for all rather than perpetuating systems of domination? What does it mean to recenter ourselves in the long journey of advocacy work? 

This event is a collective journey that will tap into our unique contributions toward answering these questions – a moment to engage in dialogue, reflection, and action. Be a part of the movement, contribute your voice, and together, build bridges of love that transform our campus into a space where justice and compassion prevail.
