A Model Program for Teacher Preparation

Nobody shapes the world like a teacher. At UCSB, learn how to inspire curiosity in your students, develop life-long learners, instill greatness into your lessons, and strengthen your communicative ability to enact change in the hearts and minds of generations to come.

Few programs provide the kinds of experiences, individual attention, and close collaborations with schools that we have at UCSB. An entire academic year of well-supported, relationship-centric teaching is rare in a program, making this experience a rewarding and full-time commitment. In the end, our highly in-demand graduates walk out of one of the most acclaimed programs in the country and walk into their first year classrooms ready and excited to teach. If you want to be exceptional, love your work, and feel like you are making a difference, begin here at UCSB. There has never been a more urgent need for excellent teachers, and your timing to join the force is stellar!

During your year with the UCSB Teacher Education Program, you will gain your teaching credential for elementary (Multiple Subject), secondary (Single Subject) and special education (Education Specialist) teaching. You will also have the option to add a Master's of Education to your credential within the same year.  We are one of six model programs in California named as "California's Assets" in the governor's State Educator Excellence Task Force report, Greatness by Design: Supporting Outstanding Teaching to Sustain the Golden State.

If you are interested in applying to the program, attend an information meeting as soon as possible as there are a variety of university, program, and state requirements required for admission.

RSVP is encouraged.  If you have further questions, please contact the TEP Office: tepapp@education.ucsb.edu or (805) 893-2084.

In the UCSB TEP, you will become great so that your students do too. We look forward to delving deeper into the details about our program and how to become a part of it all when we see you at this information meeting!
