Dia de los Muertos is a celebration that captures the idea of unity between life and death, it is a synthesis of the indigenous Mesoamerican and Spanish conquistador traditions. It is celebrated as a means of remembering loved ones and as a way to establish a sense of personal history. The event will portray the cultural significance of this tradition through food, music, art, performances, spoken word and an altar to give community members an opportunity to take part and celebrate the lives of those who have passed away.
