History of Art & Architecture Portfolio Workshop
Registration
Registration is now closed (this event already took place).
Details
The portfolio is an important component of the application to the M.Arch. This workshop is an opportunity to engage with professionals at varying stages of the architecture career path. Two of the three are UCSB graduates. They will show the portfolios that got them into M.Arch programs, and they will provide tips and strategies for creating a portfolio that demonstrates your skills, creativity, and unique life experience.
The portfolio is a life-long tool in the architect's toolkit, updated with every stage along the career path. The M.Arch portfolio is an opportunity to say something about yourself while creating a unique set of images that demonstrate your architectural aptitude.
Presenters...
Paul Rupp, AIA: Paul practices architecture at AB Design Studio in Santa Barbara, and serves on the Santa Barbara Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIASB). He leads the AIA's mentorship program for emerging professionals, and has over thirty years of architectural experience.
Kyra Bauman: Kyra graduated from UCSB in 2012 with a double major in Art History (emphasis in Architecture + Environment) and Linguistics. She has been working in architecture firms in LA since completing her M.Arch I degree at UCLA, and is an active member of the Association for Women in Architecture + Design. Her professional experience has been varied, working on projects ranging from campus research labs, to bars, to high end residences. She is currently working as a Job Captain at Tim Barber Architects, and finds it way more fun to help brainstorm creative ideas for other people's portfolios than work on her own.
Yixiao (Lucinda) Chen: Yixiao is now a second-year Master of Architecture student at Cornell. While at UCSB, she majored in Math and Music for the first two and half years, before graduating in 2018 with degrees in Art History and Music. This summer she worked at Atelier Liu Yuyang Architects in Shanghai.
