Details

Practice your short public talk and get feedback from Graduate Division staff and your graduate student peers. Anyone may attend to watch and give feedback on talks. Presentation slots are limited based on the following criteria:
  1. Students who are currently signed up to present in Grad Slam will receive priority for presentation slots at the February 23rd and 26th practice sessions. Email shawnwarner@ucsb.edu to be manually registered.
  2. If you plan to sign up to participate in Grad Slam, you can email shawnwarner@ucsb.edu to reserve your February 23rd or 26th presentation slot once you officially sign up. Slots for these sessions will be given out on a first-come first-served basis.
  3. Any presentation spots not taken by Grad Slam presenters by February 16 will then be offered to students on the practice session waiting lists via lottery.
  4. If you plan to complete the Fundamentals in Public Speaking Certificate Programyou are required to stay for the entirety of the events you are using to fulfill the program requirements, including the practice session.
  5. The presentation order for all practice sessions will be randomized. 
  6. Each person is only allowed to sign up for one practice session slot each year.
Additionally, we have added new presentation practice sessions on the following dates that are open to all students:
  • Friday, April 12, 10:00-11:30am
  • Thursday, April 18, 10:00-11:30am
  • Monday, April 22, 1:00-2:30pm
  • Tuesday, April 30, 1:00-2:30pm
