Details

Participants in this workshop will build a short, persuasive talk from initial concept through first draft. In a series of interactive units, attendees will create content, receive feedback, and revise work in real-time producing a tangible product ready for polishing afterward. Please bring along a laptop, tablet, or pen and paper to take full advantage of the writing periods throughout the session. 

This workshop fulfills PART 1 of the Fundamentals in Public Speaking Certificate. Attendees must ensure that they are BOTH checked in AND checked out on Shoreline by one of our staff members in order for their attendance to count toward the certificate requirements. Gina L. Genova, Esq. is the senior co-director of the Business Communication track in the Professional Writing Minor. Along with business communication, she specializes in legal writing and public speaking after a 22-year business litigation career and enjoys advising many of the campus’s law-oriented competition teams and organizations. Her research interests range from the function and process of collaborative work in business spaces to the intersection, interference, and imposition of laws on the workplace environment. She is a member of the Public Speaking Initiative and regular presenter at the Association for Business Communication conferences, serving as an active member of its Business Practices Committee for nearly two decades.
