The 30th Annual Latine College Day is taking place on Saturday, April 29, 2023 from 9 AM - 5 PM on the UCSB campus!

CONFERENCE DESCRIPTION

This is the 30th Annual Latine College Day, a one-day outreach event hosted by El Congreso de UCSB that takes place on the UCSB campus, inviting high school and community college students in the tri-county area (Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura Counties) to attend. Approximately 400 students will be attending! The conference is free, with El Congreso providing transportation for participating high school groups in the tri-county area! A light breakfast and lunch will also be provided, and participating attendees will receive a t-shirt for their attendance and dedication.

Students spend a day learning about how to pursue higher education, whether that’s attending a four-year university, community college, or other institutions of higher education. In addition, there will be workshops of all types hosted by community members, entertainment, speakers, and food! Being present on campus, beyond the usual format of touring a campus that some students have participated in, will allow attendees to immerse themselves in a culture of learning, participation, and discovery through these workshops and activities.

We also invite teachers to attend and learn alongside their students. In addition to chaperoning their groups, teachers also attend these sessions and take the knowledge back to their communities.
Food Provided (Light Breakfast: Conchas (Goleta Bakery), light snacks Lunch: Tortas (Cristino's Bakery), canned refreshments)
