The Capps Center is partnering with the Renewing American Democracy project for a penetrating presentation and dialogue with renowned writer and columnist Ellis Cose. Ellis will synthesize the history of American democracy and explore the role of race, class, and cultural conflict in the nation's evolution. After the presentation, students will break into small groups to share their unique perspectives and reflect on the role of young people in shaping American democracy's future.

Ellis Cose is an author, commentator, and founder/director of Renewing American Democracy. He has written 13 books about race, free speech, civil liberties, and American democracy. He is a former journalist, columnist, and editor for several major national news outlets. Cose is visiting UCSB as part of RAD's "Listening Tour," which seeks to see what young people think and feel about democracy, and to generate material for a book Cose is writing.

This event is for undergraduate students only.
Food Provided (Snacks and refreshments will be provided.)
